It was a very good month for the S&P 500 Index.  As January comes to a close the index is heading for a 5.8% monthly gain.  What happens next?  From the desk of Ryan Detrick:

So goes January, goes the year?

Well, when the S&P 500 is up >5% in January did you know the full year has never been lower (12 for 12).

Of note, the average intra-year pullback is just under 11%.  2018 will be a volatile year.
