Actions to take today:  None

Trend: Long (buy)

SPY close today: 119.83

Stop price: 115.22

401K: 50% long/ 50% cash

Comments:

The SPY recovered nicely today and again flirted with a close above 120.  Volume was heavier today vs.  yesterday but April volume overall has been low.  The trend line is still holding.

Bonds have rallied since they tested 4%  intra-day back on 4/5/10.  Gold and crude closed off their lows today as well.

Enjoy your night,

-Doug

S&P 500 Yearly…

This is a yearly chart of the S&P 500 (SPX).  Each candle represents a year going back to the mid 60’s.

The horizontal lines were drawn by me to show areas of resistance.   You can see the SPX made it through 1100.  The next area of resistance is 1200.  Today the high was 1199.19.

SPY close today: 119.55

Stop price: 115.22

401K: 50% long/ 50% cash

Comments:

Next week should be interesting as the SPY could test 120.   As we discussed in previous posts, a level not seen since 10/2008.  Resistance on the SPY shows up at 120, 125 and 130.  Will it get there?  Who knows.

Decent support now is at 117.  Breaking 117 would be a break in the trend line but not necessarily a change in the trend itself.

Have a nice weekend,

-Doug
